Prize de Novohrodivka

Russian forces “liberated the town of Novohrodivka” in the Donetsk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. The city, which had more than 14,000 inhabitants before the start of the Russian offensive in February 2022, according to official statistics, is located about twenty kilometers from Pokrovsk, an important logistical hub for the Ukrainian army. Pokrovsk has been the target for several weeks of Russian troops who are getting closer and closer, facing Ukrainian troops who are outnumbered and lacking firepower.

Two dead in Russian strike in Sumy

A Russian airstrike killed two people and wounded several others in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, Ukrainian authorities said Sunday morning. “Tonight (…) the enemy launched an air attack on the city of Sumy. Two people died, four others were injured, including two children.”the military administration of the Sumy region reported on the Telegram network. “The enemy attacked the city. Unfortunately, there are two dead and wounded.”Sumy Mayor Oleksiy Drozdenko also announced on Telegram.

The mayor reported destroyed or damaged houses and cars, as did the military administration, which posted photos of the destruction. “All necessary services are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. Necessary medical assistance is being provided to the wounded.”the military administration said. On August 30, a Russian strike had already killed two people and injured eight others in Sumy.

Since August 6, Ukraine has been carrying out an incursion into the Russian border region of Kursk, opposite the Sumy region, in the hope of creating a buffer zone there to protect its border population from air attacks from Moscow.
