In a discussion on X Spaces On December 22, Dave Mustaine, frontman of Megadeth, gave news of the writing sessions for the group's next album, which will succeed The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! released in 2022.
Promising sessions for the future album
Currently in the studio with sound engineer Chris Rakestraw, Mustaine shared his enthusiasm: “We have some really cool ideas that we’re working on.” However, he also recognized the challenges of the creative process: “It's frustrating sometimes, because I wish I was further along. But when you compose original Music, you always have to start from scratch.”
To prepare this new opus, Mustaine asked all the members of the group to re-listen to the entire Megadeth catalog, i.e. 205 songs. This approach aims to inspire creativity and allow everyone to contribute effectively. “Teemu [Mäntysaari] and Dirk [Verbeuren] bring their ideas, just like James [LoMenzo]. It’s a real collective effort.”

Teemu Mäntysaari : un atout pour Megadeth
Teemu Mäntysaari, who joined Megadeth in 2023, appears to play a central role in the group's current dynamic. Mustaine is full of praise for him, saying his contribution is “exceptional”. The Finnish guitarist not only mastered the existing repertoire, but also began to come up with his own riffs and ideas for the next album.
In a previous interview, Mäntysaari explained his approach: “Dave likes everyone to submit their riffs and then work together and structure the songs. I’m really excited to see what he thinks of my ideas.”
