Billie Eilish will never speak about her sexuality again

Since the success of his first album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? released in 2019, Billie Eilish is an international popstar. And while this popularity means that millions of people listen to the music she creates in her bedroom with her brother Finneas, and identify with her lyrics, there is another side to that coin: her actions are spied on, his words are dissected and the statements scrutinized with a fine-tooth comb.

So when in November 2023, she gives an interview to Variety and opens a breach by saying that she is also attracted to women, she does not yet know that this information will go around the world. Finally, Billie Eilish will accuse the magazine of having “outed” her, that is to say of having revealed her bisexuality, by declaring this: “ I like boys and girls, please leave me alone about that, who cares? »

And even if some time later, she admitted that her reaction was exaggerated, the debate is elsewhere: Billie Eilish is not comfortable with the idea of discussing her sexuality, even if she talks about it in her music , as in the title Lunch where she talks about eating a girl raw for lunch.

On October 8, in an interview for Voguethe journalist returned to this subject. Especially because on the remixes of the song Guess by Charli xcx, featuring Billie Eilish, the young American sings “ Charli likes boys, but she knows I’d hit it » (« Charli likes boys, but she knows I’ll fuck her » in French). Visibly frustrated, this is what Billie said: “ I wish no one knew anything about my sexuality or my love life. Never, never, never. I will never talk about my sexuality again. And I will never talk about the people I date again. » This has the merit of being clear.

Even if Billie considers that she underestimated the impact of her declarations on her sexuality, and that she did not think that it would become a subject of discussion, she still sees herself as a “baby” (sic). “ We are all babies. We are all little children growing up and we still have to learn things about ourselves »

The problem with reaching Billie Eilish’s level of fame is that fame and its consequences can get in the way of one’s artistic freedom. And can influence the way he thinks about his music. Obviously, this already seems to be the case for the American. And indeed, we can say that it is a shame that we will still be here in 2024.
