In 2025, we're making something new out of something old. Mattel is releasing a barbie bearing the image of the late Aaliyah, the big Diddle mice are being relaunched and Viktor Orbán's Hungary is still as reactionary as ever. Except that a rap song, signed by Majka, is breaking the Internet there… and suffice to say that it's not really to flatter the Hungarian leader.

When it comes to human rights, Hungary, it is obvious, is very (very) far from being at the top. The country has violated the principles of the rule of law, namely the independence of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and respect for the rights of minorities… The European Union has nearly 20 billion euros in funding to Hungary since the covid-19 pandemic, including an additional billion on January 1, 2025: unprecedented in the history of the union. Except that Viktor Orbán is not really a convenient character. Since his return to power in 2010, the Prime Minister and in fact Hungary's authoritarian leader has enriched everyone close to him and continues to persecute minorities and the media. Nova was talking about its cultural plan this summer, and it's not a pretty sight.

Hungarian rap facing the fascist authoritarianism of Viktor Orbán

But in the face of the despot, culture stands up. Nova told you about a certain Azahriah last June. This wildly successful artist enraged Viktor Orbán by becoming for Hungarian youth the symbol of the growing rejection of the nationalist leader in power for fifteen years. Azahriah is no longer alone apparently, since, for two days, a song has been breaking the Internet in Hungary.

“Csurran, cseppen”, the satirical piece which attacks the “corrupt Prime Minister”

Signed by another rapper Majka, whose real name is Peter Majoros, the title is called “Csurran, cseppen” (not having Hungarian translators available, this is what the translation sites offer us “Drop by drop”). Even if you haven't done Hungarian LV2, it's immediately possible to understand the satire since the clip speaks for itself. THE “corrupt prime minister”, from an imaginary country called “Bindjistan”, “finally gives an interview” after eight years in power, but “a young blond in a white shirt [aux airs troublants de l’opposant Peter Magyar] pour truth serum” in his glass. A little stoned, the leader tells the truth about his regime, namely that he does everything… for money.

Any correspondence with reality is PURELY coincidental

The comments (in Hungarian) applaud, laugh, laugh, love the piece… and ironically remind us that the plot is OF COURSE based on a fictional story. The characters in the story are OBVIOUSLY fictional characters and any correspondence with reality is PURELY coincidental. Especially since Majka hits where it hurts, since Orbán's most important minister, Antal Rogan, has just been sanctioned by the United States. This chief of staff, who controls the Hungarian intelligence and communications services, received a sanction “ for his involvement in corruption » under the administration of Joe Biden.

A new member of the American broligarchy?

Logically, Viktor Orbán is a big fan of Donald Trump, although he did not attend his inauguration ceremony. Was the Hungarian leader supposedly not invited into America's fascistic testosterone broligarchy? It won't be long since he has already met the 47th President of the United States several times…
