In Grenay, a huge warehouse destroyed in a violent fire last night

The smoke and flames were visible for miles. On the night of Sunday January 19 to Monday January 20, 2025, a huge warehouse was destroyed in a violent fire in Grenay, in Pas-de-Calais. Around forty firefighters responded to the scene.

Firefighters responded to a fire in a heavy goods vehicle, such as a semi-trailer, not transporting dangerous materials, shortly after 8 p.m. on the company site Godart Distribtution. The fire spread to a building with a surface area of ​​2300 m² totally on fire.

“The building contained 8,000 m3 of ceramic storage on pallets as well as 15 13 kg gas cylinders. The extinction required the use of four lances and a cannon lance,” underlines the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis).

Two employees will be technically unemployed for an indefinite period. No casualties have been reported. The police, an on-call elected official from the municipality, Enedis, GRDF and the manager of the establishment were on site. The intervention is still in progress.
