Almost a year after the release of his record, Booba’s latest album is certified platinum!
Whether you love him or hate him, Booba continues to be a central character in the rap game. And even though lately he has took particular care to make himself hated by as many people as possiblethe Duke remains an interesting artist, when he decides to make some effort, to turn off the autotune and to do some dirty work like on “Dolce Camara”. A hit track taken from his latest album, “Ad Vitam Aeternam”, and which probably allowed this project to finally be certified platinum by the SNEP!
A somewhat late platinum?
It’s now official: Booba’s latest album, “Ad Vitam Aeternam”, released on February 8, 2024, has just been certified platinum by the SNEP on January 13. A platinum disc which therefore arrives approximately 11 months after the release of the projector almost a year, which can seem quite significant if we compare it with the sales of other big albums released this year. If we take SDM and “ALVALM” in comparison, for example, the album took a little less than two months to go platinum.
A discrepancy which can be explained by several factors. The first, as Booba himself says, is that he is no longer “at the heart of the rap game”, he is no longer as current as before and is not one of the “huge stars” of the game of the moment. Others younger, like SDM, assume this status much better than him. The second reason is that the disc was not released physically, which considerably lowers the number of sales of an album. Because to count a physical sale, you need 1,500 streams of an album. So obviously, when you only release your project via streaming, you cut yourself off from a large part of your sales figures.
Under these conditions, a platinum record won in almost a year, that’s not so badeven for a boss like Booba. On the other hand, we do not have still don’t understand why he didn’t release this album physically… And there is no point in trying to rage about the physical sales of other artists, as he did recently for Dinos, Gazo, or even Gims (even if concerning the latter, the figures are really strange ). Thousands of people still buy CDs just for the item, so Kopp’s decision not to release CDs is not very wise…
