The Rural Family House (MFR) les Routil de Granville, in the south of Manche, is opening, for the start of the school year in September 2025, a new work-study training course in the agriculture and aquaculture sectors. It will be provided to around twenty students, under trainee or apprentice status.
A second towards agriculture for aquaculture
This is a second professional productions with an s. With an s, because this second class will allow young people to access professional Baccalaureates, including those offered in our establishment.
This second, non-existent today in this establishment, whose programs are governed by the Ministry of Agriculture, will take students towards the Bac Pro CGEA: Conduct and Management of the Agricultural Business, Polyculture-Livestock.
In this training, the teaching aims to teach young people to manage a dairy or horse farm, with the aim of becoming an operator or employee. The second and first classes are currently taught in the MFRs of Balleroy, Mortain or Vains, a legacy of the reform of the professional baccalaureate reduced from four to three years.
Breeding in sea water or in fresh water
The other baccalaureate to which students will have access, at the end of this second, is the Bac Pro CPA: Aquaculture Production Management, which prepares them for careers in shellfish farming and fish farming, in fresh or sea water.
“This is something new, because until this year, we only had the Bac pro CGEA final year, with 38 students divided into two classes. This training is uncommon nationally.”
A common training base
Around twenty students are expected. The training base will be common.
“These seconds will be grouped together, whether they are intended for dairy or aquaculture production. Only twenty percent of the courses will be specific to one or other of the subjects,” continues the director.
A new building constructed
The MFR anticipated this increase in its workforce. From June 2023, a new building has been constructed behind the historic part. Since the start of the 2024 school year, it has hosted the refectory with self-service and a new kitchen. The floor is being finished.
Four four-bed rooms have their own bathroom. The toilets are separate, in the immediate vicinity of each of the rooms. A common space will be dedicated to work and relaxation. The old refectory has been transformed into two additional classrooms.
