A former emblematic face of France Télévisions took his last breath on Friday January 10, 2025. It is Jean-Luc Petitrenaud.
Gold in the taste buds and the sparkling eye. Jean-Luc Petitrenaud was a wanderer of the land and a mischievous taster. On board his taxi, this critic toured France to taste all the specialties. “It’s still the only country in the world where every 10 km you can stop and find different dishes, different flavors, different traditions, tricks, beliefs. All that is called culture”he confided.
Jean-Luc Petitrenaud grew up in Auvergne near his grandmother’s stoves. He was a welder, boilermaker and above all an actor. “He brought the dramatization of the act of eating and gluttony to the table”explains gastronomic critic Périco Légasse. He invited himself into the kitchens of chefs, like Paul Bocuse.
His great friend Yves Camdeborde remembers his kind demands. In more than 20 years, Jean-Luc Petitrenaud has imposed his style. He died at the age of 74, after having put his two cents in the French culinary landscape like no other.
