You have a well-established career and a full schedule. You are also the mother of three young children. How do you balance everything? – Claude Côté
I have accepted the fact that I will never find balance, so I am in chaos management mode! I even appreciate this notion of chaos. I like being in action, I like things moving, even if it's exhausting. I tell myself that I'm lucky, I relish this privilege of being very busy, of doing a job that I love. I am approaching my forties with gentleness, I have three children aged one and a half, three and a half and eight and a half! I like this fast-paced life, we have unusual schedules, my boyfriend and I, so we have babysitters who come to help us from time to time. I've been doing this job for 20 years, and when I was offered the role in the musical Waitress, I knew it would be very demanding, but at the same time, I told myself that it was a role that I couldn't refuse, because you don't get an offer like that twice in your life, so we we are organized. The fact that our children see us doing what we love, I think it's inspiring for them, too.
I really like the radio host and singer that you are. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? – Marie Josée Farmer
I didn't know I would be where I am 10 years ago! I approach my career with dreams, desires, projects, but everything is done instinctively. It's my eighth year at Rythme FM, and I didn't think I'd do radio in my life, I decided to take the plunge and I love it! Becoming a mother has helped me to let go, to not plan everything in my professional life, and I have nice surprises, which comes with its share of emotions. I understood that I could try things, I'm here to learn! In 10 years, I could also renovate houses, I love landscaping, I could get started! Before, I found it really insecure not knowing what to expect, but today, that's what I like the most, it challenges me. Let's be open! Everything is possible!
My question may seem intrusive, but here it is. You are the spouse of an artist: would you have seen yourself having your love life and your family life with a man who is not an artist? Does it help that he's in the same field as you and if so, why? – Frederick M.
When I animated Love is in the meadowI often told myself jokingly, but it was true, that I could very well have seen myself having a farm, being a farmer, being with a farmer, and I have enormous respect for everyone in agriculture. When I was little, I wanted to be a firefighter, like my father, so I could have been with someone who does that job, a field where you have to adapt to all kinds of situations. Being with Jean-François, who has been doing the same job as me for 20 years, can be an advantage as well as a disadvantage. We experienced our ups and downs together, it was sometimes difficult for life as a couple, we understood what the other was going through, but when you're going through a down and your boyfriend is also going through a down , it doesn't fly strong! There's no one to cheer you up, but 20 years later, that's what kept us together, the music and the fact that we do the same job. It simplifies things in the way we approach life and our parenting, we are more flexible, we form a very good team.
For you, do social networks have a great importance in your personal and professional life? – Louise L.
I have a love-hate relationship with social networks, there are so many beautiful things and at the same time, so much violence, there are people who write hateful comments, it makes no sense. I use it mainly for my work, I like to use it to show different facets of my personality. It's also a window on the world, but you quickly become addicted to social media, I'm careful, and when it comes to my personal life, I'm careful. As a mother, it scares me, I see that my daughter is interested in it, I'm careful, it's a learning process, I expose my children from time to time, but I remain cautious.
Beauty is often important in the world of showbiz. Do you think your appearance and beauty play a large part in your success? – Jean-Sébastien D'agneau
Yes, I think I wouldn't have gotten the attention I got early in my career if I didn't have certain physical characteristics. To play Fleur-de-Lys in Notre-Dame de Paris, I met certain criteria, I had the appropriate face and appearance, I know that well, but the fact remains that beauty for me is not a prerequisite, and I do not define myself by beauty. I have just turned 40, I have a softer outlook on myself now, I think that beauty today emanates from the person and the citizen that I am, I find myself beautiful when I am engaged and when I defend the people I love.
