6. Ulysses – “New York with you”

Evolving in a pop-rock register that suits him perfectly, Ulysse should have sparked on “New York with you” by Telephone! But with his overly relaxed gestures and an uncharacteristic voice, the student didn’t really seduce us, as if he didn’t understand the title he was performing. As is often the case with Ulysse, the high notes were generally wrong and his tone was sometimes derailed, even if we recognize him as having great energy and a sunny smile. But that wasn’t enough to get us on board. Especially since the general level is high!

5. Marguerite – “Easy”

Let it be said, Marguerite is one of our favorite students of the season! But we’re not going to lie to each other, the fans weren’t generous in giving him “Facile” by Camélia Jordana, which we love but which didn’t allow him to showcase his pretty voice. Light and a little serious in tone, this song still sounded good thanks to the Parisian student – who has just revealed her own title, but faced with the competition, the wow effect could not take place on these evaluations. Too bad because we know all of Marguerite’s potential!

4. Marine – “My Heart Will Go On”

At 24, we could have feared that Marine would tackle too big an iceberg with “My Heart Will Go On” by Céline Dion. Sometimes academic but always involved, the candidate – who will undoubtedly be in the final – has done very well in taking on this demanding title, heard a thousand and one times to the point of overdose. If the verses were a little smooth, the student trying a few nuances to perhaps reserve himself before the imposing finale, Marine especially shone when it was necessary to send the highest (and most perilous) notes. Good job!

3. Franck – “Stay With Me”

A little self-effacing (or perhaps not highlighted enough in the daily newspapers?), Franck has one of the most beautiful voices of this season of “Star Academy”. Certainly, he explodes all expectations on soul and we would like to see him try other registers more regularly, but when Internet users chose “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith for their evaluation, they gave him a nice gift. At ease vocally, switching to high notes in a fraction of a second with disconcerting ease, Franck has appropriated this timeless ballad as if it were his own. We want her on tour!

2. Ebony – “I am a man”

Who can sit at Ebony’s table and tell her “I’m more complete than you” this year at “Star Academy”? Person. Often criticized on social networks, the young singer already has everything of an artist, offering impeccable vocal performances, and astonishing when she is given dance challenges like during the last bonus with Christophe Licata. Capturing Zazie’s every word, Ebony brought urgency, desperation and intensity into her performance, even if she was sometimes a little too forceful vocally, thus losing the expected emotion. If this isn’t her best assessment, our favorite of the season is certainly one of the best of the week!

1. Charles – “The businessman’s blues”

Charles is undoubtedly THE biggest surprise of this promo! After a remarkable first performance, the young man had difficulty finding himself, before freeing himself and blossoming vocally, as during “Caruso” last Friday. This week, the public chose “The Businessman’s Blues” from “Starmania”. A risky bet! Right from the first to the last note, Charles understood everything about this cult title, offering a mastered and humble rereading, passing the final notes with flying colors, as if it were a formality. A guaranteed finalist!
