Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante opened up about the band's second Grammy nomination and the chance to make history as the first woman to win “Best Metal Performance.”

A historic appointment

Named for its title Cellar DoorSpiritbox shines again at the Grammy Awards, after a first nomination last year for Jaded. In an interview with Brazilian journalist Igor Miranda, Courtney LaPlante expressed her enthusiasm: “I can't believe it. To be nominated a second time for the same album is a huge honor,” she declared. “What makes this nomination different is that this year, there are not only legendary groups. We have two younger bands — us and Knocked Loose, with Poppy — alongside giants like Gojira. It’s inspiring to see this change.”

The singer also highlighted a unique aspect of this year's nominations: “Since the award's inception in 1989, no woman has ever won in the 'Best Metal Performance' category. This year, there are three chances that this glass ceiling will be broken. I hope we win, but I would also love to see Knocked Loose and Poppy win. And if Gojira wins, their song includes an opera singer, which is also remarkable.”

Tsunami Sea is like Eternal Blue's big sister. It is a reflection of our musical and personal evolution, now that we have the privilege of devoting ourselves entirely to our art.”

I can’t wait for our fans to hear these songs. March seems far away, but it gives me time to make sure they reach as many people as possible.”
