Born on January 17, 1944 in Paris, Françoise Hardy revealed herself to the general public during the 1960s. Thanks to her unique voice, she established herself as an essential artist in the French musical world. Unfortunately, the singer died at the age of 80 on Tuesday June 11, 2024. Her funeral then took place in the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris on Thursday June 20, 2024. For the occasion, many celebrities were came to pay a final tribute to Françoise Hardy. His former companion Jacques Dutronc, as well as his son, Thomas Dutronc were obviously seated in the front row during this ceremony. Wednesday June 26, 2024, Paris Match returned to the last moments of Françoise Hardy’s life. The magazine notably revealed one of the singer’s last wishes concerning Jacques and Thomas Dutronc.

In fact, the musician wanted her former companion and her son to be the last to be alerted when she took her last breath. “They must be the last to know.“, she would have repeated several times before passing away. For his part, Thomas Dutronc followed very closely the evolution of his mother’s state of health until her disappearance. The singer had notably at her bedside when she was hospitalized. Even though Françoise Hardy was very weak when her son came to visit her, she still retained her mother’s reflexes, making him promise one thing in particular.You don’t have to cancel anything for me. You must continue to work, life must continue“, would have said the musician to her only child.

Françoise Hardy could no longer sing because of her cancer

For the record, Françoise Hardy suffered from pharyngeal cancer which she had been fighting for several years. An illness which unfortunately prevented her from singing during the last years of her life. “I’m in a truly nightmarish state of pain most of the time“, she declared on RTL in 2021. It is precisely because of this illness that Françoise Hardy began to campaign for the establishment of the right to euthanasia in France.
