A new Testament album on the way for 2025.

An album almost ready and eagerly awaited

Testament is in the process of finalizing its next album, which will succeed Titans Of Creation released in 2020. In an interview with KNAC.COMguitarist Eric Peterson expressed his enthusiasm for this project. “It’s an incredible album,” he confided. “It’s very varied, but still focused, with lots of different elements.”

According to Peterson, the recording is 95% complete. There are still a few solos to record, notably those of Alex Skolnick, as well as two or three pieces to complete for singer Chuck Billy. Despite this, he says he is confident: “The hardest part is done.”

Mixing of the album will begin in December, with Jens Bogren at the helm, famous for his collaborations with Opeth, Behemoth and Kreator. Testament plans to release the first singles in spring 2025, before the publication of the full album, expected for the summer.

A modern and diverse record

Over the past few months, Chuck Billy has described the new album as a perfect balance between Testament's classic sound and a decidedly modern approach. “Chris Dovas, our new drummer, contributed enormously to the writing with Eric,” he explained. “He brought new energy and inspired aggressive and creative riffs.”

The album promises a variety of styles, from fast, powerful tracks to slower tempos evoking Return To Serenity. A ballad entitled Meant To Be will enrich this diversity. Billy also revealed an exceptional duet with Nightwish's Floor Jansen: “It’s a very deep song, with a string section and acoustic guitars. We sing the lyrics as if we are responding to each other.”

The themes covered in this opus include current topics such as artificial intelligence, historical facts, and reflections on the environment. “We sing about what's happening in our world. This brings more conviction to my performances,” Chuck Billy said.
