PEOPLE – Back in the spotlight. Céline Dion walked the red carpet for the premiere of her documentary in New York, Monday June 17. The singer presented the film I am: Celine Dion, directed by Irene Taylor, before its release on Prime Video on June 25. She appeared dressed all in white, visibly moved and happy to make her return to public life, as seen in the video above.

After announcing that she was suffering from “stiff man syndrome” at the end of 2022, the Quebec singer remained in the background for a long time. “I almost feel like I’m on stage, microphone in hand, in front of cameras and people, feeling like I’ve been on the sidelines in the dark for so long.”she confided on the red carpet to the AFP microphone.

In the documentary, Céline Dion talks about the difficulty of living with this illness, and her fight to be able to get back on stage. American director Irene Taylor filmed her during her long rehabilitation, as we can see in the trailer.

During the New York premiere, the 56-year-old star said she wanted to take a “fresh start, knowing what I’m facing, being the mother I was a few years ago, and an open book telling my fans ‘I’m not dead’.”

Well aware that this disease will not “ not disappear », Celine Dion said she was facing it and preparing because “my passion for singing on stage will never disappear”. During the interview she gave to TF1 on June 16, she promised that she would return to the stage, without being able to tell them when.
