3 things to know about his unreleased track “La prisonnière” available on his best of “Plus Haut”, released this Friday

While the best of “Plus Haut”, dedicated to the greatest titles of Gall, comes out this Friday, it includes a new title, “La prisonnière”. Here are three things to know about this song, created 50 years ago.

A fifty year old title

Unveiled on the platforms at the end of October and a nugget of the best of “Plus Haut”, available this Friday, “La prisonnière” was created five decades ago. At the time, France Gall, who died in 2018, and Michel Berger, who died in 1992, had just met. The title was in fact recorded in 1974 when the two stars were 27 years old.

A song found by chance

“The Prisoner” could never have been presented to the public. And it’s even a stroke of luck that allowed this song to see the light of day. The title was found by chance by the Warner record company, according to information from TF1, relayed by AFP.

A song intended for a musical

Originally, this title was not intended to appear on an album but was to be part of a musical comedy project, which will never see the light of day, according to TF1. The three-minute song, composed by Michel Berger and performed by France Gall, is therefore put aside and forgotten.

For the record, Michel Berger composed the musical “Starmania” a few years later, with a libretto by Luc Plamondon. Created in 1979, this cult rock opera brought together France Gall, Daniel Balavoine and Fabienne Thibeault on stage.
