Without any prior promotion, the Thrash Metal group Havok has unveiled a new EP entitled New Eyescomprising four pieces. Available today, this EP offers two original tracks and two surprising covers: Commotion the Creedence Clearwater Revival et Eye of the Beholder by Metallica. Havok also released a Music video for one of the original tracks, Death Is An Illusionan intense and fast-paced title that explores philosophical and scientific themes.
Death Is An Illusion : a piece between science and spirituality
The single Death Is An Illusion is inspired by the first law of thermodynamics, which states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Vocalist David Sanchez explains that the lyrics offer a comforting perspective, reminding us that our loved ones remain through the energy they leave behind and the memories we keep of them. Musically, the track blends thrash metal and D-Beat hardcore in a style recognizable to Havok, adding a touch of depth and reflection to their repertoire.

Unexpected covers of CCR and Metallica
With this EP, Havok took the opportunity to revisit classics with a unique twist. Their resumption of Commotion by Creedence Clearwater Revival is a surprising choice for a thrash band, but reflects their admiration for this legendary group. “We have always been fans of CCR,” says Sanchez. “Their track Commotion was ideal for proper metalizing: a little faster, more distortion, and riffs adapted to Havok's style.”
As for their resumption of Eye of the Beholder of Metallica, the members of Havok wanted to pay homage to one of their flagship groups without opting for the classics that are too often revisited. “We chose Eye of the Beholder for its weight and lyrics that resonate with our own themes,” Sanchez explains. “We stayed true to the original while adding more percussive elements in the bass and drums to freshen up the track.”
On tour with Exodus
Havok is currently touring North America alongside Exodus, giving fans the opportunity to experience new music from New Eyes. This tour promises to be intense, combining the raw energy of Havok and the power of their new songs.
