Lin-Manuel Miranda, the American director and songwriter behind the immense musical success Hamiltonbut also at the helm of the original soundtracks of Moana, Charm or The Little Mermaid and soon that of Mufasa, the prequel to Lion King in live action, returned to the forefront this week, or rather streaming platforms, with a brand new project: the concept album adaptation of the film Warriors of the Night (The Warriors), by Walter Hill, about a bloody gang war in a fictional New York in the 1970s.
With the help of Eisa Davis, he transposed the story to the feminine and called on a casting all stars to embody the 35 characters of its story, including Lauryn Hill, who performs “If You Can Count”, the actor Colman Domingo or the stars of the series Pose Billy Porter and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, as well as a host of big names in New York rap from the 90s, like Busta Rhymes, RZA and Nas who also produced this album at the crossroads of genres.
