Kim Jaejoong (JYJ) recently appeared on the show “Radio Star”!
On the show, he then mentioned the fact that he was adopted by a family with many girls when he was only three years old, but only found out after his debut with TVXQ.
In this episode of “Radio Star” broadcast on October 16, Kim Byung Man, Kim Jaejoong, Kim Dong Jun and Cao Lu (FIESTAR) appeared as guests for a special episode titled “Masters of Survival”.
The youngest child in a family with eight older sisters, Kim Jaejoong shared:
“I was adopted when I was young. At three years old, I was taken in by a family with eight girls. At the time, I didn’t know I was adopted. It wasn’t until I started with TVXQ that I finally discovered it. »
He then explains that it had been difficult at first and that the discussion had become complicated with his family following the revelation, admitting:
“I found out later, and even after I found out, it was uncomfortable for my family and I to bring up the word “adoption.” »
The most surprising thing, and what shocked people on set the most, was that Kim Jaejoong only found out about his adoption after his K-POP debut with TVXQ. In fact, it was during the filming of an MV that he learned it.
He explains:
“While we were filming the music video for “Believe” in Busan, I received a call from an unknown number. At that time, I was constantly being harassed by calls from sasaeng fans, so I didn’t want to answer, but strangely I had a strong feeling that I should. When I answered, the person said, “Jaejun, how are you?” » I asked myself, “Who calls me by my childhood name, which only my aunt used?” » Even though the caller didn’t reveal who he was, I felt like all the pieces of the puzzle had fallen into place. That’s when I found out I was adopted. »
After that, Kim Jaejoong expressed:
“After investigating the situation, I discovered that the agency had created a photo album. There were photos of me taken during my early childhood, and these photos were taken before I was three years old. This is how my birth family found me. »
According to him, his parents hid his adoption from him for these many years so as not to hurt him. He reveals:
“When you’re young, people think it’s best to keep adoption a secret, right? Most of my friends knew about it, but they all hid it from me. »
Finally, he mentioned the youngest of his sisters, who is only 10 months apart from him. Regarding it, he declared:
“My sister and I are only 10 months apart. We were always together in the same school year, but since we lived in a small town, she never celebrated her birthday on her birthday to prevent rumors from spreading. She hid her birthday because of me. It wasn’t until we became adults that she was finally able to celebrate it on the real date. I am truly grateful to my sister for making so many sacrifices and hiding her birthday for so long. »
Kim Jaejoong is known for his good relationship with his adoptive parents and his biological mother. The latter had to leave him for adoption after numerous family misfortunes and personal problems, notably after having the misfortune of finding himself trapped in several toxic relationships.
