The Cure releases “A Fragile Thing”, sumptuous new track

It sounds like a ticking sound, as if the piano was counting the hours. And as always with Cure, the intro is important, so we take our time. Before Robert Smith’s voice arrives, the bass Simon Gallup is there, the sound of the guitar too. But let’s not go too fast.

In a recent interviewRobert Smith confided that if he regretted one thing, it was having started talking about a new album in 2019 when nothing had been done. But one of the keys to the group was knowing which song the record began with and which one it was going to end with. Luckily, we already know the intro.

Alone first extract revealed by The Cure two weeks ago. Songs Of A Lost World, this new Cure album will be released on November 1st, for All Saints’ Day.

In the meantime, these two songs that have just been released are not entirely new for fans who attended the last Cure tour (which was called Shows Of A Lost World): all the concerts started with Alone et A Fragile Thing was one of those unreleased tracks played for fans only.

A Fragile Thing exactly what we are going to hear. The title is less solemn than the somewhat funerary rhythm of Alonebut the words are no less pure sobs:
