After some financial setbacks which almost led to the end of its broadcasting, Idfm Radio, which broadcasts from Enghien-les-Bains (Val-d’Oise) is starting again with a vengeance.

Since the election as president of Jacqueline Voraz in January, the radio observes a renewed interest from the public.

Our number of followers has tripled on social media. On my personal page, I now have over 10,000.

Newfound enthusiasm

A craze which can be explained, among other things, by new commitments and a diversification of their chronicles.

Three short stories broadcasts were created this year.

Among them, that of Master Sonia Oulad Bensaid, a lawyer which answers questions from listeners once a month on a defined legal topic.

Jacqueline Voraz also resolved to travel more directly to the terrain looking for new topics.

“Above all, we want to recreate lien with our listeners,” says the president.

In this aim, the radio set two objectives.

First, broaden the age range of its listeners, “be intergenerational”.

Then, extend its reach beyond the surroundings of Enghien-les-Bains, to more remote places, such as Vexin.

“We are a radio station proximitybut we want to be the media and the tool of Valdoisiens and Ile-de- residents. Off-air must be our strength.”

Thus, the Idfm Radio team organizes media workshops in collegesof the schools primary and prison environments.

A new source of income valuable for the finances of the association.

Subsidies needed

But if the media is experiencing better days, certain financial problems persist.

The radio has three employees and brings together around a hundred volunteersincluding around fifty columnists.

However, Jacqueline Voraz deplores a lack of funds which would make it possible to hire more personnel.

We operate more like a business than an association, and the grants are not enough to cover all our costs.

The president still remains optimistic about the future of Idfm.

“Our finances are doing well, but we are waiting for grants of the region”.
