Pink Floyd sells its music to Sony for $400 million

The members of Pink Floyd will receive 400 million dollars for this sale.

Small jackpot for the members of Pink Floyd. The group would have sold the rights to its catalog, its image and its name to Sony, according to information from Variety and Financial Times. All for the tidy sum of $400 million. If some people will perhaps turn their eyes wide at this number… it is ultimately not that high for a catalog which still includes albums such as The Wall or The Dark Side of The Moon.

At issue: David Gilmour’s desire to get rid of a brand which represented more problems than anything else, by his own admission. And also the fact that the members of Pink Floyd keep control of the copyright, which necessarily lowers prices.

A new album for Gilmour

With this agreement, Pink Floyd’s music could appear more regularly in works such as films, series or even video games.

In the meantime, each member of the group continues their solo careers. David Gilmour has also just released a new album, Luck and Strange. The former singer of the legendary group will defend this new record on stage, but unfortunately not in .
