VIDEO – The singer is fighting against an unknown illness, which no doctor can diagnose. She is Audrey Crespo-Mara’s portrait of the week in “Sept à quatre” on TF1.

Revealed in the musical Notre Dame de Paris In 1998, singer Hélène Segara won the hearts of the French. Of his hits like Her you love her or There are too many people who love you up to her role as a juror in “France has an incredible talent” on M6.

But behind this smile, there is a long fight against an unknown irreversible eye disease that even the greatest doctors cannot identify. “I still don’t know what I’m fighting, but I try everything”explains this Sunday, May 5, the singer to Audrey Crespo-Mara in “Sept à Huit“.

“In April 2013, I came back from Russia where I had worked and I woke up one morning with a curtain literally in front of my eyes, not understanding what was happening to me. From there, everything happened. I had eye implants. I had a total of around twenty interventions”remembers Hélène Segara.

A relapse of the disease

But two years ago, although she had stabilized, everything changed again. “I realized that I was really losing one of my eyes”, describes the singer. Treatments cannot stop the disease. Hospitalization prevents her from becoming completely blind.

“I saw a lot of questions on the networks about my physical changes because the cortisone was not in small doses. It was 1000 milligrams. So obviously, I arrived in a normal state, I went out, I was a popcorn”describes Hélène Segara before saying: “But especially from the moment we lose our sight, our eyes desperately seek light. So there were a few televisions where I ended up with squints that I couldn’t control. And on the networks, people are so violent… That’s also why at one point I went abroad because I didn’t want to be followed, harassed. Because I was followed to the hospital doors”.

However, Hélène Segara chooses to always see the glass half full. “The present is the lesson of what is happening to me, I want to live it intensely. Enjoying every moment, loving a lot, eating delicious things, cooking for those I love. I want to see everything, watch everything as long as I can”she concludes.
