Halestorm fans can rejoice! Singer Lzzy Hale recently confirmed that the band is close to finalizing their next album. In an interview with ALT 105.1 radio in Louisville, Kentucky, the frontwoman revealed that the album is about “70 to 80 percent finished” and should be finalized in the coming months.

Three studio sessions with Dave Cobb

Since production began, Halestorm has already completed three studio sessions with renowned producer Dave Cobb. The latter, mainly known for his work in country music, is no stranger to the world of Rock. He notably collaborated with Slash for album 4, recorded with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, as well as on the album Crazy Times by Sammy Hagar and The Circle.

Lzzy Hale said: “We have a [petit] studio at home, so I finish the final touches on the vocals, the solos, and we make sure everything is in place. We will return to the studio [avec notre producteur] in December to finalize everything.” The singer seems delighted with the creative process underway: “We’re very excited about it.”

A different creative process

This new album seems to take a unique direction for Halestorm. Lzzy Hale explained that Cobb disrupted their creative habits. Unlike previous projects where everything was carefully planned in advance, this time they chose to start with a blank canvas.

“We all gathered in a house in Savannah, Georgia, without any supervision. It reminded us of our beginnings, when my brother Arejay and I were 14 years old”says Lzzy Hale. This more spontaneous process seems to have restored energy to the group, allowing it to reconnect with its musical roots.

An album with unexpected sounds

Although Cobb is mainly recognized for his successes in country and Americana, he was able to adapt to the world of Halestorm. According to Lzzy Hale, the producer pushed the group out of their comfort zone, leading to an album that promises to be heavier and more incisive than Back From the Dead (2022).

“We’re tackling topics we’ve never covered before… There are a lot of surprises in this album. It’s not a shift towards country at all, but rather a more raw and emotionally charged version of what we do”Hale added.

This new Halestorm album therefore promises to bring a new dimension to their sound, while remaining faithful to their roots. Fans just have to wait a little longer to find out what Lzzy Hale and her bandmates have in store for them!
