After playing a vampire in the “Twilight” saga, Robert Pattinson made fun of the persistent hatred towards the franchise, in an interview with GQ Spain, Tuesday January 21.
Robert Pattinson has spoken out about criticism from horror fans, saying the saga ruined the vampire genre on screen. “I love that people keep telling me, ‘Twilight ruined the vampire genre.’ Are you still stuck on this shit? How can you be sad about something that happened almost twenty years ago? It’s crazy,” he told the Spanish media.
The actor became a global star playing the vampire Edward Cullen, alongside his co-star Kristen Stewart, who played Bella Swan. The five parts, released between 2008 and 2012, grossed more than $3 billion at the global box office.
“Bong Joon Ho is simply inimitable”
In 2022, during his previous interview with GQ, Robert Pattinson confided that he wanted to make his character “as artistic as possible”, which caused tensions with the studio. “He was worried about making things a little too emotional. I thought that was the only way to play. I spent so much time [sur le plateau] furious… When I think about it, I can’t believe the way I behave half the time,” he shared. He also revealed that his managers demanded more smiles from him, and that he “would be fired at the end of the day if he didn’t stop doing what he was doing.”
-Robert Pattinson is now starring in “Mickey 17,” which is scheduled for release on March 5. In this film, the actor plays an infinitely cloneable astronaut, engaged in a space exploration program where he will literally have to confront himself.
«[Le réalisateur] Bong Joon Ho is probably one of five directors in the world right now who can take a project of this caliber and turn it into something idiosyncratic, unique and interesting. Bong is simply inimitable,” he confided during the interview with GQ Spain.
