The adaptation of a work by Stephen King is always an event. Especially in 2025, a year rich in transpositions of the master of horror’s writings onto the big screen, with next November, The Running Mana new version of the plot already adapted in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the main role. It is The Monkey which will open the ball next February, on the 19th precisely and the least we can say is that in terms of atmosphere, we risk being very well served.

The 2’13 of the recently published trailer sets the tone for us: blood will squirt and in very large quantities throughout the film. The Monkey tells the story of two twin brothers, Bill and Hal, who discover a mechanical sign playing a drum in their father’s attic. Obviously, said monkey is rather menacing and obviously, some time later, a series of gruesome murders occur. After making the connection with the monkey, the brothers decide to get rid of it… but the toy will eventually resurface. And his curse too. The two brothers, who had separated, will have to reconcile and unite to put a definitive end to the macabre actions of the monkey.

To sell us the concept of the assassin monkey, the few kills presented in the trailer do not fail to shock, notably this billiard ball which literally smashed a child’s skullor this scene where we can see the face of a woman screaming, blood escaping abundantly from her eyes, her skull then her mouth. The rest, we leave it to you to discover, hoping not to have seen – already – all the trashiest moments of the film.
Tinted with black humor, with a very offbeat atmosphere, reinforced by the narration aspect of one of the brothers who explains their past with the monkey, the trailer for The Monkey fulfills its role: to intrigue. It must be said that the film is well supported. We find in the screenplay and production Osgood “Oz” Perkins (Longlegs), considered the rising figure of horror, James Wan (Conjuring, Saw) to the production and a great cast to put it all into action: Theo James (The Gentlemen), who will play the two twin brothers, Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) et Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk).
Come on, fingers crossed that the trailer is really just a taste of the horror that has in store for us The Monkey, next February 19.
