Sunday January 12, 2025, Vassy rescue center (Valdallière), in Calvados, welcomed 15 members of the Football Club Inter Bocage (FCIB) from Vassy.
The senior team was present with David Renouf, the club president, and some U18s. “Every year, the FCIB invites us for a friendly football matchit was a way of their reciprocate », explains Chief Warrant Officer Thomas Robert.
Footballers discovering the barracks
The morning began with a welcome time around coffee to explain how the morning had gone, then the footballers visited the barracks.
The rest of the morning took place in three parts. The players, divided into three groups, rotated on workshops run by firefighters.
Thomas Robert proposed a awareness the role of each person in the relief chain. The footballers were able to discover the interior of the emergency vehicle to victims (VSAV), and its different functions. They were able to manipulate a first aid mannequin for first aid awareness.
-Eric Béchet and Fabrice Découflet presented the fire equipment : from the outfit to the ARI – insulated breathing apparatus -, and the different vehicles used in Vassy: the CCR, rural tanker, the FPT, ton pump van. Some were even able to try on fire gear.
The last workshop was led by Brice Desdoits and Clémence Rauline. It was about discovering the firefighter recruitment sports course.
They did several exercises, with a helmet and a weighted vest, such as a race with skeined pipes (worn on the shoulders), movements while pulling weighted cans, steps, a race with loads… Via a timed course, just to challenge each other.

The morning ended with a well-deserved drink of friendship because all the participants played the game and gave the best of themselves. The aim of these exchanges is to bring the associative fabric of Vassy to life and of create a link.
