Between November 22 and January 13, nine complaints were filed for bank card theft and/or fraudulent withdrawals. The national police are warning the elderly, the main victims of thieves whose scenario is well-oiled.

In recent weeks, two women have allegedly stolen bank cards and made fraudulent withdrawals in Besançon. The police are therefore calling on elderly or vulnerable people to be vigilant at supermarket checkouts and ATMs.

The events took place in two waves, confirms the Doubs national police. Between November 22 and December 9, 2024, five complaints were filed. Four other new ones were filed between January 10 and 13, 2025.

“The call for vigilance is to warn the population. For the moment, we have not been able to determine whether these acts are committed by one or more teams,” underlines the police who confirm that an investigation is underway.
