For more photo radars in Quebec

In 2024, photo radars brought in around 100 million dollars in Quebec, almost 25 million more than in 2023.

Slaloming between cars on the highway, not slowing down in construction zones, I can’t be the only one who is amazed every time I hit the road how many people drive extremely fast.

The lack of road surveillance allows people to feel above the Highway Code. These intrepid drivers put their lives and the lives of others at risk.

The Quebec government should not hesitate to take money from the pockets of people who do not respect the Highway Code.

Increased surveillance

If photo radars were present on most roads in Quebec, I believe our roads would be much safer.

I am thinking, for example, of the construction workers who benefited in 2024 from the protection offered by these photo radars installed on construction sites such as that of the Hyppolyte-Lafontaine bridge-tunnel which also brought in a lot of fines in 2024 .

By having more photo radars, drivers would have much less opportunity to lay down the law and endanger the lives of people who asked for nothing.

A carelessness that brings us back

In 2025, we must not hesitate to use technology to make the travel of Quebecers safer.

People who speed on our roads should be monitored even more and all the better if they thereby contribute to replenishing our government’s coffers.

There should be no discomfort in making these careless people pay, especially when we know that this carelessness can cost lives.
