Fat Joe came out of his musical retirement. And this unexpected return was motivated by an unexpected source of inspiration: rapper Killer Mike. In an interview given to Billboard On January 7, Fat Joe revealed the underside of this decision.
Fat Joe explained how Killer Mike’s triumph at the 2024 Grammy Awards was the high point of his return to the music scene. The Atlanta rapper won three prestigious awards: best rap album, best rap song and best rap performance.
“Killer Mike is the one who inspired me”confided Fat Joe, before continuing: “I was retired, I’d hung up the phone. Even a call from Eminem couldn’t change my mind. But when I saw Mike win that Grammy, I realized it was was possible.”
