Armie Hammer will make his “comeback” in a film called The Dark Knightwith the worst director in the world.
A few years ago, the name Armie Hammer rhymed with The Social Network, Call Me By Your Name, Lone Ranger, Very Special Agents: UNCLE Code, J. Edgar, Sorry to Bother You, Free Firand Nocturnal Animals. He was one of fashion's pretty faces, who seemed to have been made exactly for it, like Chris Pratt/Pine before him and Glen Powell since.
But since 2021 and the accusations of abuse and sexual assault of several women (without legal action, due to lack of sufficient evidence), and the mind-blowing details on the actor's BDSM inclinations, he is synonymous with bad taste jokes on Cannibal Holocaust et Trouble Every Day. Dropped by his agency, fired from several projects and ruined according to his own words, Armie Hammer nevertheless prepared for his comeback.
After the “open-hearted” interviews, the documentary and the book published by his mother, he gradually found his way back to the sets. At the very beginning of 2025, he even said that Hollywood had forgiven him so much that he was overwhelmed by proposals, and had to refuse offers. But if you thought that Armie Hammer was going to come back through the front door, think again: his big real comeback will be with Uwe Boll (considered one of the worst directors in the world)and in a vigilante film titled The Dark Knight (any resemblance to Batman is obviously not accidental).
ARMIE OF THE DEAD
In January 2025, Variety announces that Armie Hammer will be the star of a film called The Dark Knightwhich in itself already sounds like a joke. He will play Sanders, a man who decides to fight crime himself, becoming a media phenomenon when the public makes him a hero. Which displeases the police chief, who will decide to track him down to arrest him.
But that's not all. The Dark Knight could have been a trap similar to Asylum productions, this pathetic studio of turnips which takes people for calves by releasing films crudely copying well-known titles (Sinister Squad, The Fast and the Fierce, Tomb Invader, Planet Dune, Avengers Grimm : Time Wars, Thor : God of Thunder…). Producer Michael Roesch also made a point of specifying, at Variety :
“Our film is very different from Christopher Nolan's, so there is no risk of confusion. »
But the thing takes on a whole new dimension with the presence of Uwe Boll as director and screenwriter.
NO BOLL
Since the 90s, the German director has established himself as one of the worst things to happen to cinemaand particularly video games. At the beginning of the 2000s, he made a series of films House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark (with Christian Slater and Tara Reid), BloodRayne (with Kristanna Loken, Michelle Rodriguez and Ben Kingsley all the same) and its sequel BloodRayne 2 : Deliverance, Postal, King Rising: in the name of the king (“adaptation” of Dungeon victorieswith Jason Statham, Ron Perlman and Ray Liotta all the same), and Far Cry.
Next door, Paul WS Anderson built the Sistine Chapel with his Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat et Monster Hunter. The comparison is also inevitable since he is in turn preparing a film House of the Dead.
Uwe Boll is also known for challenging critics who hated his films to face them in a boxing ring (the “Raging Boll”), to have insulted just about everyone (including other filmmakers like Michael Bay), and for promising that he would quit his career if a million signatures were gathered on a petition (“only” 300,000 people gave a damn).
He also announced that he was stopping cinema in 2016 to launch his own restaurant. Which obviously didn't happen since he has since made four films. We can at least grant him this: in around thirty years, he has signed more than thirty filmsnot to mention his achievements as producer and screenwriter.
Finding an actor like Armie Hammer is therefore a godsend for and cynical troll Ube Bollobviously aware of the publicity that this will give him. The filming of The Dark Knight will start in Croatia from the end of January 2025.
Armie Hammer also filmed the western Frontier Crucibledirected by Travis Mills, with Thomas Jane and William H. Macy. He had explained to The Hollywood Reporter in January 2025 that he had five projects on fire (dont The Dark Knight), and that he was now leading his career with his lawyer and without the help of an agent. Who would perhaps have simply thrown Uwe Boll's script in the trash without actually talking to him about it.
