An 80-year-old man died after being hit by a car in the Sainte-Foy area of Quebec on Tuesday noon.
The impact occurred around 12:15 p.m. in front of 3291 chemin Sainte-Foy, near several businesses and the Duplessis highway.

First responders quickly transported the victim to a hospital, where his life was feared..
The death was confirmed a few hours later.

“Considering these facts, a perimeter was erected around the intersection in order to protect the scene,” said Pierre-Olivier Lévesque, spokesperson for the Quebec police.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians went to the site to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
At first glance, the event appears to be accidental in nature.
Since November, at least three pedestrians have died in Quebec.
In its latest road report published in June 2024, the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) reports a reduction in the number of deaths among vulnerable users, i.e. 63 deaths among pedestrians in 2023, compared to 82 in 2022 (decrease of 23.2%).
