God came to Paramount to see the resounding internet reaction against the first trailer for Sonic, its adaptation of the famous Sega mascot that has remained alive until now through multiple video games. Digital character redesign through the disturbing anthropomorphic hedgehog seen in that trailer was changed to the adorable but harsh mascot that we have now, the same one that stars in this blockbuster third part in which Shadow (voice in the original version of Keanu Reeves) is added, demonstrating that we are facing one of the best examples of franchise cinema in recent years.

Jeff Fowler improves as a director film by film, modulating the very different tones and resources of a huge Frankenstein of manga, kaiju cinema, science fiction and family entertainment, aware that the accumulation of characters is already almost equivalent to that of a Latin soap opera. And he therefore adds jokes at the expense of it with the soap opera starring Cristo Fernández (Ted Lasso) as if he borrowed the same idea from Airbagand other outbursts such as the video clip at the expense of a Jim Carrey double.

The actor, by the way, once again takes over the role in the role of double villain, taking an entire franchise to his field, but one in good shape, still capable of incorporating characters, supporting genres and tightening the rope of the blockbuster toymaker Paramount laughing, in passing, at its character as a work at the service of a registered trademark. The virtual montage of “grandmafriends” and other crazy ideas compensate for how poorly tuned the humor is in all the occasions in which Carrey is not on screen (and the wasted Krysten Ritter), but what counts is the stupendous craftsmanship of his visual effects (its apocalyptic climax seems reserved for major works) and the endearing nature of its concatenation of nuclear gerbils.
