the essential
Every Wednesday, a programmer or theater director from Toulouse or its surrounding area gives us his selection of films of the week. Vincent Boy, director of Kinépolis Fenouillet, gives us his favorites on the outings for this Wednesday, December 25.
“The gifts”
“Lots of films in Santa's sack this Wednesday December 25 and among them I will choose four, each of a totally different genre. And all with a good cast… First of all, since it's D-Day , “The Gifts”, a light and funny family comedy served by a nice line-up of quite comical actors: Chantal Lauby, Gérard Darmon, Camille Lellouche, Max Bubil… The gifts, there are those who are waiting for them, those who fear them, those who forget them…
“Pretty Pretty”
“My second choice is “Joli Joli”, a musical comedy by Diastème with music and songs by Alex Beaupin and performed, for the leading role, by Clara Luciani, William Lebghil and José Garcia, who plays there for the first time in a musical The film tells the story, in the 70s in Paris and Rome, of a broke writer and a rising cinema star… Special feature of this whirlwind musical comedy: no one dies, everything. the world loves each other and there is good humor in the air… For Diastème and Alex Beaupin, 1977 is a pivotal year from a cultural point of view: it is the moment when the end of the hippies collides , punks and the beginning of disco.” The film also refers to the cinema of the 70s, in France and Italy with the great era of Cinecittà.”
“Planet B”
“My third choice is “Planet B”, which mixes science fiction and thriller directed by Aude Léa Rapin and starring Adèle Exarchopoulos. In the near future, in 2039, activists hunted by the State disappear. They wake up in an unknown world, a virtual cell called Planet B. And they are asked to dismantle a terrorist network existing on our planet… To write this scenario, the director relied on the writings of the Committee Invisible, a group of anonymous authors active in France, to depict a society where youth are rising up…”
“The Flood”
An even different genre with “The Flood”, a film both historical and metaphysical by Gianluca Jodice, performed by Guillaume Canet in the role of Louis XVI and Mélanie Laurent in that of Marie-Antoinette. We find the monarchs in 1792 when in the midst of their fall, they were arrested and taken to the Temple dungeon. More than a historical story, the film tells of the end of a world and their personal apocalypse. With the dark side, what is hidden behind the scenes: the dungeons, the violence…”
