Flowers and glitter in her room, to start
While she was off work at the end of 2023 and the days were starting to seem long, Stéphanie Leplang wanted to repaint her bedroom and living room.but not like everyone else. I looked for inspiration, on Pinterest among others, and I told myself that I would start with my bedroom, that way, if I messed up, no one would see.”she laughs. The Wanzoise published photos of her achievement on Facebook… and the positive comments followed. A friend then asked her “the same thing” for her salon and everyone close to her encouraged her to start out as a complementary freelancer, which she did last spring.
And since then, every weekend or school break, she fulfills a new order. She is 13 and has just finished the kindergarten corridor of the Wanze municipal school where she works. With a common thread in all his frescoes: flowers. “Since I was little, I have mainly drawn flowers. I also wear a flower every day, whether in my hair, as earrings or as a belt buckle. Moreover, for more than 15 years, my colleagues, students and their parents have called me “Madame Fleur” and my friends, “Fleurette”.”
With acrylic paint and Posca markers
Stéphanie Leplang creates her frescoes using acrylic paint and Posca markers. On many, she also brings her own little personal touch, glitter in the paint. But she obviously bends to the wishes of her customers. “I meet them first to find out their tastes and see the wall, the room it is in and the colors and style around it. I compose the design according to their desires and tastes. Some give me complete freedom, others just impose the colors, others still ask for something special, like a face drawn in one line for example.”
When her preliminary project is validated, Stéphanie Leplang then launches onto the walls. First in pencil, freehand, then with paint and markers. “If I don't have to repaint the wall first, a mural takes me about 7 hours. I was afraid it would tire me out, but it's the opposite, it's really something relaxing for me. When I paint, I am in my bubble and sometimes so much that I even forget to eat, drink or go to the toiletlaughs the Wanzoise again. At the same time, I have to stay focused and I realize that, sometimes, I am so focused that I hold my breath to do certain strokes.”

Someone who has not studied or trained in the arts, and who even has difficulty defining herself as an artist, in any case still cannot believe that her project was chosen among others by the CHRH. “The team told me that they had come across my creations which I share on Facebook. I didn't even have a book to go to the interview! So, the night before, I quickly printed a few photos of projects I had already done and I took a notebook and a tape measure with me to look a little professional. So, when they called me to tell me that they had detained me, I no longer answered for anything: I was at school and running everywhere! I’ve known about it for about three weeks and I’m still celebrating!”
Certainly, the enthusiasm of Stéphanie Leplang, alias “Madame Fleur”, will reflect on the walls of the five rooms entrusted to her. Four preliminary projects have already been validated by the CHRH, she has free rein for the fifth room.and I obviously already have ideas!” Ideas that she will bring to fruition in a few weeks, during the Carnival break.
