Fans of One Piece have never been so spoiled when it comes to screens. Certainly, the anime is on hiatus until April 2025, when it will return to another broadcast slot, but the live-action Netflix series will soon be back for a season 2, and Toei has just announced excellent news.
The pirates of One Piece are popular
Luffy and his friends have seen their popularity rise further in recent years, thanks to the live-action Netflix series which has allowed them to reach an even wider audience than previously. On the manga side, Eiichiro Oda has slowed down the pace of publication of the adventures of his Straw Hat pirate, his worrying state of health no longer allowing him to draw as quickly as before. Indeed, he apologized to his fans, both unhappy to see their meetings with their favorite hero spaced out and worried about the suffering endured by the mangaka. The wait between two chapters will still be easier to bear thanks to the expansion of the One Piece universe on screen.
A movie One Piece announced by Toei
During Jump Festa 2025, which takes place this weekend, Eiichiro Oda and Toei announced a new film dedicated to One Piece. No details have yet been shared by the mangaka regarding the release date, duration or plot of this feature film. Since the year 2000, there have been no less than fifteen films dedicated to Luffy and to its pirates, the overwhelming majority of which were not broadcast in French cinemas. Let's hope that this new project will benefit from screenings in cinemas!
