Adventure and science fiction fans can tune into Canal+ this Friday, December 20, 2024, with the broadcast of the tenth part of a very popular franchise. And this since the 60s…
For decades now, sagas have invaded our screens, often with the same success. Fans of gleaming engines will not say the opposite, with Fast & Furiousthe tenth film with an astronomical budget which sent its heroes straight into space! SF is undoubtedly the genre which has provided the most franchises, with obviously in the first place Star Warsnine feature films and a host of series for a very abundant universe. Between anticipation and horror, Alien poses well too, with a monster who… will soon arrive on Earth! A creature, or at least an animal, is also in question this Friday, December 20 at 9:10 p.m. on Canal+, with the broadcast of Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdomthe tenth opus in the series of films adapted from the initial work of Frenchman Pierre Boule.
When the action takes place Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom ?
Released in theaters in May 2024 after seven years of absence of the saga on the big screen, Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom is not really a direct sequel to the trilogy released in theaters between 2011 and 2017. The events of this new part take place 300 years after the death of Caesar, the hero of the three previous films. The apes now live organized in different clans on an Earth that has mostly returned to a wild state, with humans still suffering the effects of a virus which has drastically caused them to regress. Coming into contact with Nova and Trevathan, two humans, Noa, a young primate, opposes his leader, with his brutal and authoritarian methods. Filled with references to its initial model, which has become a classic of the genre, this very well-crafted entertainment with careful special effects should please fans, of whom the singer Soprano is clearly not one.
Planet of the Apesa saga more than fifty years old!
It is an understatement to say that the saga Planet of the Apes has crossed time and generations. The first film in the franchise, which has become cult, dates from… 1968! With a certain Charlton Heston as an unfortunate hero who discovers a planet dominated by primates. A feature film which is dated, and in which one of the actors died in 2022. Four other feature films followed in the 1970s, then a reboot by Tim Burton released in 2001, the trilogy of the 2010s, and finally this tenth film by Wes Ball, official director of another saga, that of Labyrinth. This is indeed a work as clever as a monkey!
