After a long wait, DC Studios has finally released the first extended trailer for Supermanafter the brief preview shown yesterday. This trailer comes after the premiere of Creature Commandosthe animated series that marks the beginning of the new stage of the studio under the creative direction of James Gunn y Peter Safran. However, Superman is presented as the first major premiere of this new path on the big screen, presenting one of the most iconic and beloved superheroes of all time.
The trailer shows David Corenswet (Pearl, Tornados, The Politician) taking the iconic role of man of steelsucceeding Henry Cavill (The Witcher). Without a doubt, one of the most emotional moments is seeing how Corenswet delves into the character, giving new life to Supermanwho returns as a symbol of hope for a new generation. The preview opens us up to a new number of heroes and enemies, how Hawkgirl and the fearsome Lex Luthoras well as his colleagues Daily Planet.
What this new interpretation anticipates is a balance between action, moments of humor and deep humanity. The film presents us with a hero who, beyond his strength, stands out for his compassion, a quality that is reflected in his relationship with Crypto Superdog, who also has an important role in the trailer, providing support to an injured Superman.
Regarding the director’s vision James Gunnwho is also writing the project, has made it clear that he will move away from the darker version he presented Zack Snyder. As Gunn had indicated on previous occasions, the approach will be different: the character’s origin story will not be retold.. “We start in the middle of the action. Superman already exists. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman from the beginning, even though he doesn’t know him personally. So we start right in the middle of the action. It develops in a short period of time.”explains the filmmaker, highlighting that this film will present a more mature stage of the superhero, without the need to return to the beginning of his story.
Next to Corens lawthe distribution of this title will be completed with the award-winning Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult (Juror #2) as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus) as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion (The Rookie) as Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan (Barry) as Metamorpho, Skyler Gisondo (Night of the Nerds) as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio (Shadow) as Eve Teschmacher y Wendell Pierce (The Wire) as Perry White.
