One of the most anticipated films of 2025, 28 ans plus late is finally revealed with a first poster and a first mysterious teaser.
28 years later: the apocalypse is approaching
Big name in the post-apocalyptic genre, the british film 28 days later had a profound impact on spectators when it was released in 2002. Directed by English filmmaker Danny Boyle – already noticed by the exceptional Small murders between friends et Trainspotting – and written by Alex Garland, the feature film featured a young Cillian Murphy as Jim, a Londoner who wakes from a coma to realize that the English capital has been deserted following the spread of a dangerous virus. The film was a huge success; naturally, a sequel directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and entitled 28 weeks later was released in 2007.
After having been teased for a long time, a third part entitled 28 years later was announced for the month of June 2024. Marking the return of both Danny Boyle, Alex Garland and Cillian Murphy to the saga, this will be the first part of a new trilogy. This first part, produced entirely using an iPhone, will tell the adventures of a young boy looking for a doctor to help his dying mother in the wild and devastated territories of the North of England. Strongly inspired by the film What de Ken Loach, 28 years later promises to be one of the events of the year to come.
This Saturday, December 7, Sony Pictures revealed the first poster for the feature film, as well as a mysterious first teaser. The latter reveals two very furtive images from Danny Boyle's new film. We can also hear the word “Tuesday” (mardi). A great way to announce that the first trailer for 28 years later will be released on Tuesday December 10, 2024!
At any rate, the upcoming release of 28 years later reminds us of the renewed interest in the post-apocalyptic genre. After the success of the series Fallout on Amazon Prime Video and the magnificent comic strip The Road by Manu Larcenet (based on the eponymous novel by Cormac McCarthy) both released in 2024, several events should satisfy fans in 2025: next spring, HBO will broadcast the second season of the series The Last of Usinspired by cult Naughty Dog games ; the video game Death Stranding 2 : On the Beach by Hideo Kojima is also one of the most anticipated games of 2025.
