After Ron Perlman and David Harbour, it is the American actor Jack Kesy who plays Hellboy in “The Crooked Man”, here is the trailer.

After the box office failure of Neil Marshall’s Hellboy starring David Harbour (the $50 million film grossed $55 million internationally), we thought the film saga adapted from Mike Mignola’s comics was over.

Yet in 2023, Brian Taylor – director of Hyper Tension and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance – announces a new reboot. Hellboy: The Crooked Man is inspired by the comic book The Crooked Man by Mike Mignola and Joshua Dysart, published in 2008.

A more intimate and darker film

In an interview with Colliderthe filmmaker explained his intention: “I love the Hellboy character. Guillermo del Toro’s films were big space operas and pure Del Toro.

But some of the comics that Mike Mignola was doing at the time were very different. They were more of a folk horror, scary stuff. You had a younger Hellboy, wandering the dark corners of the world…

Jack Kesy en Hellboy

The Crooked Man is an iconic book, written by Mike and drawn by Richard Corben, another legend. It’s set in the late ’50s. It’s my favorite version of the character. So for me, the appeal is to go back to that and offer a version of Hellboy that we haven’t seen yet.”

And that’s exactly what the trailer for Hellboy : The Crooked Man – unveiled today – announces us. Far from the big colorful blockbuster, this new version promises us a darker, more intimate, more gory film with a younger Hellboy.

It is also the American actor Jack Kesy, already seen in the series The Strain and in Deadpool 2, where he plays Black Tom Cassidy, who plays the Right Arm of Destruction. He is surrounded by Jefferson White, Adeline Rudolph, Leah McNamara and Joseph Marcell.

No release date has been announced yet.
