Here (2024), Robert Zemeckis’ daring new project is revealed

Pioneering directors, who dare to defy conventions, are those who will leave an indelible mark on the history of cinema. The famous director Robert Zemeckis, known for his cult works such as Back to the Future (1985) et Forrest Gump (1994)returns with an ambitious project that promises to plunge spectators back into the twists and turns of time.

Here (2024) takes us on a poetic introspection of a couple’s life over several decades, filmed through the prism of a new and daring perspective. Inspired by the graphic novel by Richard McGuire, Here (2024) revolves around a singular and innovative concept: a unique room, filmed from a fixed point of view, becomes the scene of a family story. The camera, like a mute observer, traces the evolution of a romantic relationship, from its first moments to the couple’s old age, passing through the strong moments and the trials which mark each family stage.

In the manner of a long story, Here (2024) will explore love, life and time, restoring the emotional power of the human experience within a minimalist and captivating framework. This aesthetic bias, which recalls the experiments of the first silent films, will give Here (2024) a unique and singular character. To play this iconic duo, Zemeckis called on Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, who have already successfully collaborated on Forrest Gump (1994). Their tried and true on-screen chemistry promises to add an even more poignant dimension to this journey through time, weaving new subtle bridges within Zemeckis’ filmography. These references, like synchronicities, will certainly invite the viewer to a deeper reflection on Zemeckis’ universe, creating mirror games between his films, and an additional pleasure of discovery for the initiated.

Eric Roth, a renowned screenwriter who has previously worked with Zemeckis on films such as Forrest Gump (1994)joined the adventure, bringing his iconic pen. Above all Here (2024) is in line with the daring projects led by Zemeckis, a filmmaker who has never hesitated to push the technological limits to serve his art. His use of deepfake and techniques of de-aging will be here at the service of a story that spans several decades.

See you in theaters on November 13, 2024.
