Full Metal Jacket (1988) is not a film for the faint of heart. It is a relentless descent into hell, a brutal exploration of warlike madness and dehumanization. Stanley Kubrick first immerses us in Parris Island, where young recruits are methodically shaped into killing machines under the merciless screams of Sergeant Hartman, the chilling incarnation of military discipline. The story then transports us to Vietnam, to the heart of the Battle of Hue, scene of nameless absurdity and horror.
Kubrick lays bare the reality of war: a devastating spiral that consumes innocence before crushing bodies and minds. A masterful work, raw and relentless, which remains engraved in the history of cinema.
Already available since 2020 in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Full Metal Jacket (1988) is about to return in a new Steelbook edition. Although no precise release date has yet been announced, pre-orders are now open in France via Fnac.
This new edition offers an elegant and sober visual, featuring the iconic poster of the film. It should include the same UHD disk as the previous edition.
