Bathed in great artistic blur, the film Fantastic Four has finally revealed its official synopsis, validating certain theories and rumors.
The year 2025 should mark the end of the sad Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A Phase 5 as unenthusiastic as its big sister Phase 4, both having great difficulty recovering from the after-effects left by the double apotheosis of Phase 3 Avengers Infinity War et Avengers Endgame. Willy-nilly, the MCU still holds the bar, and will therefore end its fifth chapter with Captain America: Brave New World et Thunderbolts* next year.
The rest, we already know it, and it is Fantastic Four : First Steps who will have the difficult task of inaugurating Phase 6 of the MCU. Matt Shakman's film will pave the way for Avengers: Doomsday et Spider-Man 4 in 2026, then Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, and in the film Blade if he ever ends up getting out. We didn't know much about this film Fantastic 4except that it would be this iconic villain who would be the main antagonist, but Marvel has finally revealed the official synopsis of the film, and it confirms many theories.
Ride of the Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four : First Steps (we will appreciate the alliteration in F in VO), despite its title, is in fact the fifth adaptation of Fantastic 4 in the cinema (the 1994 nanar was initially supposed to be released in the cinema), and the first signed Disney-Marvel, since the Mickey stable recovered the exploitation rights of the quartet by buying 21st Century Fox. Fantastic Four finally has an official synopsis, which confirms the title roles, and the fact that Galactus and the Silver Surfer will indeed be there:

Life in plastic, it’s Fantastic
The synopsis firstly confirms that the film will take place during the 1960s. Which means that in no case could it take place on Earth-616 (our “official” world), Earth on which the events take place the movies Avengers. It could therefore be that Fantastic Four inaugurates a new timeline, because it wasn't yet enough of a multiversal mess at Marvel.
Galactus is also officially confirmed as the big bad of the film (and perhaps of Phase 6 alongside Doom?), and that he will be accompanied by his Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. It is therefore likely that this Silver Surfer is Shalla Balthe wife of Norrin Rad (the “official” Silver Surfer), now in the service of Galactus.
Disney's official press release also clarified that Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles will be part of the cast, without revealing their roles. The same press release revealed that Michael Giacchino will compose the film's soundtrack, which is an argument (probably the only one) for our Antoine to go see it in theaters. The movie The Fantastic Four : First Steps will be released on July 23, 2025 in French cinemas.
