3 and a half hours of science fiction: the first film is one of the best of the genre, the second went terribly wrong

Attention science fiction fans! Today, we offer you two must-see films of this genre. One of them has a very interesting premise and the other, unfortunately, never managed to live up to its potential, but it’s still worth watching. It is Edge of Tomorrow and of Babylon A.D.

>> This science fiction film is considered the most beautiful in history and is available for streaming

What are you talking about Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise?

By chance, Major Bill Cage (Tom Cruise), without any training, finds himself on the front lines in the fight against the murderous aliens who threaten humanity. But when he dies, he simply wakes up the day before his mission. Trapped in a time loop, he has no choice but to learn from each death and make the best of his situation. Only policewoman Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) can save him.

>> Emily Blunt claims to be ready to do Edge of Tomorrow 2 and tackles Tom Cruise: “I don’t know how much Mission Impossible he needs

What is the story of Babylon A.D. with Vin Diesel?

In the dystopian Eastern Europe of the future, mercenary Toorop (Vin Diesel) is tasked with escorting a young woman to New York. However, the mission given by mafia boss Gorsky (Gérard Depardieu) turns out to be surprisingly complicated. Toorop accepts the challenge in order to have the chance of a promised new start in North America.

>> Vin Diesel starred in one of the most expensive films in cinema history, but it was a huge flop (and the studio is in debt now)

With Babylon A.D.everything that could go wrong has gone wrong

While The Edge of Tomorrow stands out as a surprisingly successful and, above all, extremely entertaining science fiction film, Babylon A.D. is more of a charming flop for many. But this is not due to director Mathieu Kassovitz, who did his best against all odds. There were many behind-the-scenes issues that prevented a better film from being made.

>> The filming of Babylon A.D. was so horrible that it inspired Fiascoon Netflix

The Fox production studio intervened massively from the start. Originally, Vincent Cassel was to play the lead role in the film adaptation of the novel Babylon Babies, instead of Vin Diesel. The final version of the film was reportedly significantly edited, and Kassovitz later complained about the huge creative differences.

Ultimately, he wanted nothing more to do with the film and even described it as “pure violence and stupidity” (via First Showing) : “I never had the opportunity to film a scene the way it was written or the way I wanted. The script was not respected. Bad producers, bad partners. It was a terrible experience“.
