Black Panther 3 is being prepared at Marvel, and a new prestigious actor has announced that he will normally be there.
By continuing in a few months the historical failure of The Marvels (206 million at the box office for an official budget of 220 million) and the phenomenal success of Deadpool & Wolverine (more than 1.3 billion for a budget of 200 million), Marvel has proven that anything is possible, for better or for worse.
2025 will therefore be a pivotal year, with Captain America 4 : Brave New World (released February 12, 2025), Thunderbolts* (released April 30, 2025) and Fantastic Four (released July 23, 2025) which will prepare Avengers : Doomsday (May 2026) and Avengers : Secret Wars (May 2027), without forgetting the fourth film Spider-Man with Tom Holland inserted in the middle (July 2026).
And after? Nothing very clear, apart from a film Blade stuck in endless development for years, and which has been postponed indefinitely. And one Black Panther 3 apparently, since a prestigious actor has just announced that he will be therealthough the film does not yet have a release date.
ANOTHER A PRESTIGE ACTOR AT MARVEL
It's in the middle of the promotion of Gladiator 2 that Denzel Washington quite naturally let go that he would have a role in Black Panther 3during a passage to Today Show early November 2024.
Asked about a possible desire to retire, the Oscar winner explained:
“I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. Probably not much. I want to do things I've never done before. I played Othello when I was 22 and I'm about to play Othello at 70. After that I'm going to play Hannibal. After that I discussed a movie with Steve McQueen. After that Ryan Coogler wrote a role for me in the next Black Panther. After that I'm going to make the film Othello. After that I'm going to do King Lear. After that I'm going to retire. »
In other words: Denzel Washington still has a bunch of years of work ahead of him with these five projectsknowing that it was also announced in High and Low by Spike Lee, which will be a remake ofBetween heaven and hell d’Akira Kurosawa.
As for the film about General Hannibal, it will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, with whom the actor worked on Training Day (Oscar for best actor), Equalizer, Equalizer 2, Equalizer 3 et The Seven Mercenaries.
BLACK PANTHER 3 ARRIVE
Black Panther 3 was not officially announced, but it was only a matter of time. In 2022, Black Panther : Wakanda Forever cashed in nearly 860 million at the box officee, for a budget of 200-250 million.
It was certainly less than the first Black Panther (1.3 billion in 2018), but it was better than Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (845 millions), Thor 4 (760 millions), Ant-Man 3 (463 millions), Shang-Chi (432 million) or even The Eternals (401 millions).
Following the death of actor Chadwick Boseman in August 2020, Black Panther 2 has been completely redesigned. In the story, the character of T'Challa also died, and the story of the film revolved around this mourning, and the hero's legacy. His sister Shuri, played by Laetitia Wright, took up the mantle of Black Panther.
Moreover, T'Challa and Nakia's son, Toussaintwas featured in the post-credits scene.
In January 2023, Laetitia Wright explained to Variety :
“I think Black Panther 3 is already being prepared. […] We need a little break, we need to regroup, and Ryan Coogler needs to get back into it so it's going to take a while. »
Note that “the other sequel” of Black Panther 2 will arrive on Disney+. Appeared in Wakanda Foreverthe character of Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, will be entitled to her own series entitled Ironheart. She will be broadcast from June 24, 2025. The universe will also be exploited in the animated series Eyes Of Wakandawhich does not yet have a release date.
