This horror film massacred by the press is a hit on Netflix in 2024 despite a rating of 26%: it’s beyond understanding!

Time Cut, a horror film available on Netflix since October 30, 2024, is being slammed by critics. Rated 2 stars on Netflix and 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, it has all the makings of a film for teenagers with very little interest, and yet it is a hit in many countries!

Time Cut: the slasher of all confusion

Time Cut is a horror film about a teenager, Lucy, who lives in the shadow of her older sister, Summer, who was unfortunately murdered at the hands of a serial killer. In her relatively tormented daily life, Lucy finds an unexpected way to go back in time, to 2003, just before her sister’s assassination.. We then follow his adventure, or his journey, to try to change the past and bring his sister back from the dead.

The film involves a slasher, as well as time travel, enough to pique the curiosity of fans of horror and serial killer films, but there is a catch: Time Cut is much more massacred than the characters in the film. The comments are scathing and do not inspire anything good: “The killer, tasteless, inspires only boredom”, “It sucks, I stopped 15 minutes before the end, and I’m ashamed to have lasted so long”, “I wasted my time watching it”, etc.

Despite these catastrophic returns, this film is one of the best Netflix releases of this week. Time Cut ranks among Netflix top 3 in many countries. Until then, Time Cut was in first position in , to now be in second place on the podium, but it persists in first place in other countries, notably in Luxembourg, Belgium, Australia and Island. .

But is the film good?

Time Cut may be considered a slasher, but it is far from Halloween, Scream, or even Terrifier. In reality, Time Cut is a film that is not aimed at adults at all, but more towards teenagers, even pre-teens. You will never get goosebumps as there is nothing horrific in this film, it is much more of a comedy; the storyline is as predictable as an episode of Scooby Doo and the atmosphere is as kitsch as High School Musical. Therefore, yes, the film is not at all suitable for an adult audience, but finds its audience much more among adolescents.

Although a post-it is enough to condense the plot, it is nonetheless profound on a very specific aspect. Some viewers find the relationship between Lucy, the heroine, and her late sister very touching.

Moments that should be horrifying turn out to be far more amusing than anything else, so this film presents itself as an excellent introduction to horror for young people. So, yes, Time Cut is not a masterpiece and does not provide any thrills, but can prove to be an excellent choice for spending time with the family, even with the little ones.
