The secret Predator movie that will be released before Predator : Badlands might just be a huge fantasy for fans.
This was one of the surprise announcements made by Steve Asbell, the CEO of 20th Century Studios: not only Predator Badlands will indeed be released in cinemas in 2025 (instead of Bladewhose fate is causing increasing concern), but what’s more, it will not be the only film dedicated to the creature created by John McTiernan to be released next year. Indeed, a surprise film, shot in the greatest secrecy, will be released before Badlands.
We know very little about this secret film, except that it came from a pitch formulated by Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Prey. If he went behind the camera again to Predator BadlandsTrachtenberg also directed said surprise film. Rumors regarding this film suggest that it could well be the embodiment of a pure wet fantasy of fans of the license.
Predator or rightly
According to site sources Gizmodoit could be that the secret film Predator or an anthological animated film. The footage would be made up of three episodes featuring Predators in three different eras. The creatures would therefore be opposed to warriors coming from several countries and distinct historical periods.
Still according to the information revealed by Gizmodothe first warrior faced by a Predator would be a pirate, and the next two segments would pit the alien hunter against samurai (or at least, at least one of the next two segments). This is one of the concepts widely exploited in the comics and in the extended universe dedicated to the Beast: taking him through space-time to put the most formidable warriors in history in his hands. .
It is also important to note that in the comics anthology A Decade of Dark Horsepublished in 1996, the hunter was already facing a group of pirates on a tropical island. At the end of the confrontation, the creature left with Raphael Adolini’s musket, which we see in the film Predator 2.
As for the madness of bringing alien hunters and samurai face to face, it is also one of the most present concepts in the mythology of the galactic hunter. The comic Blood Feud is particularly renowned for its merciless clashes taking place in feudal Japan. Here, it’s an entire clan of Maws of Lucky Charm who sets his sights on a clan of samurai. The comic’s climax a memorable battle pitting hundreds of samurai against a dozen Predators, a truly enjoyable carnage.
However, several questions remain unanswered. First of all, will it be a film in traditional animation or in computer-generated images? It is impossible to know at the moment and even more so, there is nothing to indicate with certainty that it is an animated film. If this is the case, however, we can wonder with which animation studio Dan Trachtenberg teamed up to bring the project to fruition. Furthermore, will the film arrive directly in streaming on Hulu-Disney+ or will it benefit from a release in cinemas?
At the moment, this film has neither an official title nor a confirmed release date.. As for Badlandsit is expected for November 7, 2025 in American cinemas, and a priori from November 5, 2025 in French cinemas.
