Broadcast this Friday October 4, 2024 at 9:25 p.m. on TMC, Taxi 5 marks the great return of the most famous car in French cinema. A part from which Samy Nacéri and Frédéric Diefenthal, cult duo of the saga, are absent.
Va-va-voum! If you are a fan of speed and roaring engines, there are many films for you. Starting of course with the franchise Fast & Furiousthe tenth part of which could be directed by a Frenchman. A saga marked by incredible stunts, but also by the death of one of its iconic actors, Paul Walker, to whom his daughter recently paid a moving tribute. In another genre, Rush directed by Ron Howard, is also a piece of choice, feverishly retracing the Homeric duel between Niki Lauda and James Hunt on the Formula 1 circuits in the 1970s. In France, racing car fans also have their champion, with the saga Taxi.
Taxi 5an effective new episode directed by Franck Gastambide
Since 1998 and the release of the first part, the white vehicle has continued to attract crowds, thanks in particular to extremely effective stunts. So Taxi 2 (2000) had fun multiplying the nods to Star Wars, even if the filming was marked by a terrible accident. Team change with Taxi 4 (2007), first part from which Marion Cotillard is absent. A logic which was even more applied for Taxi 5released in theaters in April 2018. A highly anticipated episode, notably carried by Salvatore Esposito, the big bad guy of the film. In this new adventure, Sylvain Marot, a daredevil Parisian police officer, is transferred to Marseille after an indelicacy. With the help of Eddy Maklouf, a local taxi driver, he tries to dismantle a gang of bank robbers who operate in luxury cars. If the film, directed and played by Franck Gastambide, will please fans, the same people will still wonder where Samy Nacéri and Frédéric Diefenthal, the two actors who were until now stars of the saga, have gone.

Some figures of the franchise are very present, such as Bernard Farcy, the unmistakable Commissioner Gibert. But not the two actors mentioned above. In March 2018, Samy Nacéri complained of having been poorly treated and attacked Franck Gastambide. Accusations rejected a few weeks later by the actor and director of the film, before an equally direct response from Daniel’s interpreter. Apart from the controversies, Frédéric Diefenthal declared shortly before the film’s release that he did not have much interest in it.
