Descriptive text here

The Netflix catalog will welcome into its ranks one of the notable horror films of recent years, with a completely crazy storyline.

In recent years, horror in cinema has been one of the most diverse and inventive genres. If the big franchises have more than ever entered into a purely economic logic (hello Conjuring or the last Exorcist), independent proposals have perhaps never been so numerous and ingenious.

Talented directors have emerged in the genre, like Ari Aster or Jordan Peele, and more and more producers seem inclined to give young directors a chance. We can cite the friendly The hand in 2023, the excellent Vermin directed by Frenchman Sébastien Vaniček, the cardboard smile who will have the right to a sequel or the very recent one Immaculate with Sydney Sweeney. In short, horror films are popular, and you shouldn’t miss one of the notable projects of 2022, which is finally arriving on Netflix.

The arrival of Barbarian on Netflix

While it was released directly on Disney+ in October 2022, the film Barbaric was no longer legally visible in for several months (Disney having removed it from its platform). Fortunately, the horrific closed door therefore appears on Netflix on May 2, 2024. And it’s a perfect opportunity to (re)immerse yourself in this formidable nightmare, which caused a sensation. This is actor, writer and director Zach Cregger’s first solo feature film, and his first foray into horror.

And for a baptism of , the filmmaker did rather very well, with a simple but extremely effective scenario. Barbaric therefore follows the character of Tess, played by Georgina Campbell, who reserves a Airbnb in Detroit. However, upon her arrival, she realizes that the house is already occupied by a manKeith (Bill Skarsgard, aka the clown from That). The film could have been confined to a scary closed door with the two characters, especially thanks to the disturbing charisma of Skarsgard, but Barbaric had more than one trick up his sleeve. He made the choice toa story that multiplies the clever diversionswithout ever losing sight of its message, both quite original in horror and relevant.

Down the scary rabbit hole

Terribly modern, the feature film did not forget its primary role along the way and offered some very beautiful scare sequences. Its unpredictable aspect was probably its greatest quality, and the critics were not mistaken. The film received an average rating of 78/100 on Metacritic.indicator of good reception in the States.

Good feedback which resulted in an excellent run at the box office, with 40.8 million dollars collected on American soil (45.4 including other territories) for a budget of only 4 million. For those who missed it, its return to Netflix is therefore the perfect opportunity to be surprised.
