However, there is one industry in which George Lucas’ universe continues to thrive: toys. And it is particularly at LEGO that Star Wars products continue to proliferate. Constructions inspired by the franchise are among the most beloved collectibles among geeks, and Disney and the Danish brand have understood this well.
This is how a new model is about to join the prestigious Ultimate Collector Series range. LEGO has just announced a new, even more ambitious version of the famous Jabba’s Sail Barge, first released in 2013. This set arrives just in time to slip under the fans’ tree, who will be able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars as it should be. Between minifigures galore and impressive details, here is what the Ultimate Collector Series edition of Jabba the Hutt’s ship has in store.
A faithful reproduction full of surprises
At 3,942 pieces and 30.5 inches long, the new Jabba’s Sail Barge is nothing short of impressive. Unlike the original, builders will be delighted to discover features such as folding sides and raising the sails and upper deck to get a peek at the craft’s interior details. Included are reproductions of the cockpit, catch cell, armory, galley and even Jabba’s entertainment room.
For the greatest pleasure of minifigure collectors, This set will include 11 characters that will be able to be displayed on a dedicated display stand, namely: Jabba the Hutt and Princess Leia in her controversial slave costume, Bib Fortuna, C-3PO, Max Rebo, Kithaba, Vizam, Wooof, a Gamorrean guard, Salacious Crumb and R2-D2. To reinforce the collector’s aspect of this already very complete set, LEGO has also taken care to include an information plaque and a LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary brick, next to which it will be possible to place the imposing Jabba minifigure enthroned.
This LEGO Star Wars Jabba’s Sail Barge will be available for sale on the brand’s website and in stores from October 6th next, and will be billed 499.99€. LEGO Insider members will be able to take advantage of an early sale starting October 3. Between October 3 and 6, all buyers of the set on the website or in LEGO stores will also receive a Luke lightsaber set worth €21.99. Will you fall for this new model despite its price?
