Fortunately for the customers, they did not see behind the scenes of this business. The services of the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture decided, Thursday January 16, 2025, to urgently close a butcher shop located on avenue de Chanzy in Pavillons-sous- after a health check which turned into a nightmare.

Poor general hygiene

During a visit carried out on January 14, the services of the departmental population protection directorate noted “serious breaches of the rules of hygiene and general maintenance of places and installations”.

The inspectors were notably able to note the presence of live cockroaches and rat droppings. The very insufficient cleaning of the premises was also singled out, as was the general hygiene, which fell well short of expectations for such a business.

“The lack of control over temperatures and storage conditions creates a significant risk of collective food poisoning,” asserts the prefecture in its decree. She continues: “foodstuffs are handled in premises whose coverings are soiled, which can be sources of contamination by pathogenic germs”, which represents “dangers for public health”. The employees also used “dirty and soiled equipment” without respecting good hygiene practices.

The emergency closure was therefore inevitable.

This is the same fate that was reserved for Les Epices d’Aulnay, road from to Aulnay-sous-Bois. Here, foodstuffs were handled in “poorly designed premises, difficult to clean and disinfect, containing a source of unsanitary conditions and whose coverings are soiled, which could be sources of contamination by pathogenic germs”. Here again, good hygiene practices were far from being respected.
